Composer's portrait instead of album art?

I don't use album art, but I am wondering if it is technically possible to associate a specific artist's (composer's) name with his/her portrait, so it will show in the empty space where the album art would otherwise show? This is of course not vital, but it would look good...

Sure, why not?

As I figure, you would need to:
- find a picture of the composer, preferably in standard JPG format;
- use some basic image editing program to both shrink it to a size usable for your device if needed and also to insert the composer name/whatever text you want...something like the free Fastone Image Viewer will suffice for these basic image edits;
- save after your edits as a standard, NON-PROGRESSIVE JPG file;
- then either embed the JPG in the ID3 metatag data as normal or rename the file to folder.jpg/cover.jpg [whatever works on your device] and place in the appropriate album folder.

The above should work fine I think...

Well, that was easy. In Media Monkey it's possible to to add pictures (I resized to 300x300 pixels) to the ID3 tag under Properties. Thanks again,

Personally I wouldn't go below 500x500 pixels. I usually go for 1k times 1k++ but that's just me. Never know what the future might bring, and I'd hate to redo my entire album art library.

I concur. My own moderate library is all embedded with minimum 500x500 album art, but no higher than 600x600 - image file sizes I keep below 75-100kb though.

Good enough for me and future proof enough IMO
