You would achieve the same 3dB boost - if not better - by simply using the J3's Wolfson hardware EQ (for cases where Mach3Bass' loudness contour is too much). To me, pairing the J3 with the E5 seems like adding a camping trailer to an Aston Martin. The E5 doesn't really fix anything, and only adds hiss.
