I spotted this cnet article which made for interesting reading in the comments underneath: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-12519_7...ag=mncol;title
Years ago (around 2006) I bought some tracks OTA on my phone. The quality would have been abysmal - 48kbps 3gp files - although listening on a phone with the supplied buds I didn't really notice at the time. I think I got links to download them on a PC also, but I never bothered. I'm glad I own all my music today. |

Lucky me, no DRM stuff. The only music I've bought online was mp3....but I joined the digital music party later than many people, and I had already read about the old iTunes stuff where people would have to burn it to a CD and then rip the CD, etc....so I managed to avoid the whole trap of DRM.(no audiobooks either.)

No DRM-devil for me, although this would be very useful for those who do. I downloaded most of my collection through AmazonMP3, much better than iTunes and no DRM. All of my new music I have on CDs, ripped to FLAC and converted to V0 MP3.

I would sooner purchase a pair of Justin Blah-blah-blah headphones than spend my money on DRM shit.

I do have a few tracks around from '07 which is DRM-secured. Today I would never touch DRM as they only bring disadvantages though.

I added to the poll to distinguish between Subscription and Purchased. I have DRM tracks, but they are subscription and i think people are more likely to use subscription than purchased DRM tracks since they are slowly dying.

Thanks Enzo. Subscription and DRM-free here. Best of both worlds: I can listen to my entire collection and/or anything I can think of that's available in the Zune Marketplace on demand.

Hell no!!! DRM infested music is evil!!!
However, I do agree with Enzo that the only way DRM music makes some type of sens is when it's rented.

I won free tunes from iTunes years ago - I burned 'em to disk and deleted the offending DRM'd shiit. Then, I went and bought the real CD and did the rip's some justice!!!

I buy a lot of my music on itunes (single songs). All albums are actual physical copies... No DRMd shit for me!!
Too limiting to only play on certain devices and programs!

I haven't actually paid for and drm'd music but I did get a years worth of downloads free from the nokia ovi store to which I thought awesome, its free, until I tried to use it on my mp3 player, then I realised it is free to use... only on my phone lol.

I get my music from Amazon or I buy the actual CD, rip it to FLAC and load it onto my MP3 player from there.
