Using S9 with Ford Sync

Hi. I just bought a new Mercury Mariner that has a very slick Sync system for voice commands/ hands free media control and I could use suggestions to fine tune things. Basically, there are three methods for media input: USB, Blue Tooth and line in and, though all work well, only via USB input can ID3 tags be recognized by voice prompts and displayed on the nav screen. This would be fine except for the fact that when I input via usb, the S9 begins charging...playback works fine but I cant navigate to JetEffects. Also, will it not harm the battery on my S9 to keep "topping it off" every time I run to the store? As it is, I have to connect via blue tooth to make changes to settings (on the S9) and usb for playback.
Any chance that this is something that could be fixed through firmware or is it just the nature of all usb devices?

lava this sucks. You may want to submit a ticket through cowonamerica.com and ask them about this. That's what I would do.
