Actually this was answered on the Zune Insider podcast... "Apps for the Zune HD will always be free". WP7 is a different matter but for ZHD they will always be free.

first of all, I got a problem I described here: http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62284 . Music from an artist I added with the Zune software, doesnt link with the information (pics/bio/...) from the marketplace. "Search for Album info" doesnt solve the problem.

then, at my school network, we have a limited acces. The browser redirects me to "https://1.1.1.1/" which cant be loaded. I googled a bit and it seems like a common problem. Any help/suggestion how to solve this? There are other networks working like this I tested out, and it loads the "login page".

The problem described in that thread regarding losing the metadata is because when the user moved to a new PC he didn't move the metadata. In Windows 7 it is stored in the profile at

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Zune

Offhand, I don't know the exact location for XP, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out. It might be a simple matter to transfer it.

Alternatively, I have seen a utility called the "Zune media collection reset tool" from Microsoft that might fix the problem as well.

As for the redirect to https://1.1.1.1, your school network is probably expecting a login/password or a SSL Certificate for access to the internet. You did say you school has "limited access", and probably doesn't allow the addresses and/or ports needed by the Zune software.

Dave McLauchlan has announced via Twitter that he is leaving Microsoft to form a new startup called Buddy. One of Buddy's first apps will be Skirmish, the Windows Phone app that Dave has been testing.

"zune pass changes" turns up articles about how they're cutting it from allowing 6 devices to four. Not a big deal, if you ask me.

Google is my friend. It just felt wrong to send it on a Zune-related task. I suppose I could have "Binged" the answer.

Anyway, thanks for saving me the trouble, steinburger1109. Those Zune Pass changes aren't a big deal to me, either, considering I currently use it on a sum total of 0 devices.

And these are Europe changes, not US. And AND this brings Zune Pass into alignment with the other European music services, etc...
