Can headphones/IEM's rival (bookshelf) speakers in terms of SQ?

Ive been looking for a good pair of speakers for my pc speakers and ive been disappointed at what ive found so far. I had my sights set on the klipsch ifi but those speakers are not available anywhere anymore. Bookshelf speakers etc. are too much of a hassle to hook up i would need a receiver subwoofer etc. etc.

Anyway i was thinking i might aswell invest in an awesome pair of IEM's or headphones. But i do not know if these are capable of rivalling speakers.

I am ready to invest 400-500 in good iem's or headphones as long as its worth the money in terms of sound quality specially compared to speakers.
