Probable new J3 firmware release due early November

Just a heads up, to everyone who's also anxiously awaiting a new (hopefully significant) firmware release from Cowon for the J3. I know that at the very least we're all looking forward to a true solution to M3U/MSC playlist issues that currently restrict music files to residing on internal storage only.

In response to my ticket to them the other day on this subject I received the following reply (dated today, 10/21):

I'm indeed anxiously waiting for a new firmware release ! Every update is welcome .
Is it actually possible to have a better video compatibility with a new firmware ? If the J3 is technically capable of playing HQ videos I don't see where the problem is ...

You're just seeing this post late. It was from mid-October.

Anyway, the 2.23 firmware which they came out with at the very beginning of November is this long-awaited release which we'd been looking for an which I posted about.

And, it DID fix some problems... but DID NOT address the still-outstanding M3U playlist functionality defect which still prevents M3U playlists from referring to music files stored on external storage.
