I have just downloaded Neil Young - Heart of Gold, the concert/documentary.
The 10 individual rar files of 100mb or thereabouts each extracted into nearly a gigabyte each, making the entire 1hr 30m movie 10Gbs in size. Video is 672 x 400, framerate 23.9 Audio is a52 48000, 256kbps Is it normal for a music film to be this large? Previous regular Xvid movies I've downloaded have been around 700mb to 1Gb. So I'm a bit puzzled. |

Hey Dreamnine: Was the concert marked as BDVD? Perhaps a RIP of a Blue Ray Disc?
XVid is also, AFAIK, not the most efficient video codec...Other than that, I can't be of much assistance... Enjoy the show though.. :-)

I don't think it's a Blu Ray rip - not that I would notice the difference on my netbook anyway.
I wonder if it's anything to do with its being 48000 audio. It sounds good, just kind of a large file when I'm used to storing my vids on a 32Gb USB and a 16Gb microSD. |

Good thought! Man, I hate RIPs at 48000....silly people...that could def add some weight to the files.
Still, as long as it works, enjoy! :-)

! Maybe you should look at the video bitrate. No it's not normal for it to be so large, even if it's lossless audio, which is not the case here. It seems to have the size of a raw video, totally uncompressed. How's the quality ? like a DVD or a Divx ? If it's like a DVD then you can compress it using h264 lossless, h264 or divx if you don't know how to do it. I do have some video clips with lossless audio (in my Flac folder ) and 4 min in VOB (dvd format) with lossless uncompressed audio is 200Mo.I hope that will help you .
