Screen Flicker

My 1 year old X-series' display has started to flicker, become dim (even when brightness is at max) and looks generally unstable, even when fully charged.
Music playback is unaffected though.

Any ideas as to how terminal this could be, as I'm about to go on holiday and a fully working player is essential!

Sounds very likely like a hardware problem, if your warranty is valid take it back to the store, otherwise send it to sony, they will fix it but also charge you.

But before sending it in, i'd flash the firmware just in case...
