Default NWZ x1060 issue with very specific files.

So i love my new walkman. but its been acting a bit funny. Everything works beautifully except 2 very specific folders. out of maybe 20 or 30 albums ive got on it right now, 2 albums alone have this problem where everytime i play any song in them after about 5-8 seconds into the song, the player will freeze and restart.

It happens only in those two albums. I tried deleting them and copying them over through windows media player sync, still the same issue. the odd thing is out of 3 smile empty soul albums, only 1 displays this abhorrent behaviour. the other 2 work just fine. anyone have any ideas?

Sorry for posting in such an old thread. But I'm having the same issue and it happens with only one folder.
I've already deleted and transfered it again, but doesn't change anything.
Can someone PLEASE help me? I really don't want to format or reset my player...

Hey Yumi, sorry for your woes. Consider perhaps there is something wrong/corrupted with your music files themselves. I am assuming they are mp3 files?

There are about a zillion things that can go wrong with mp3 files [and any computer stuff in general].

There are a few diagnostic tools you can try to see if there are problems within your mp3 files which the Sony just might not like.

- foobar2k: An excellent music player which also has some very good built-in tools to verify the integrity of your music files;

This one is free to try but I have never used it.

A good link to an old thread on this subject, try some of those apps mentioned.

This would be my next step before I even consider formatting my player.

FWIW, as part of my own music collection process, I scan, fully tag and embed art for every mp3 file before its get added to my permanent collection.

Yes, it takes a bit more time, but not that much. The result is that in eons of mp3 music player usage, I have personally experienced almost zero issues with corrupt files or stuff making my various players choke.

hth,
-lestatar

Thank you very much for your help. The thing is, the files that make X Series freeze play just right on my S618F walkman. Besides, the music is tagged, with cover art and everything... I don't get it. But I'll try this out.
And I have one doubt: does this problem (freezing and restarting) brings any damage to the player?

Hmm, that is odd then...

Well, it cannot hurt to run diagnostics on the files themselves anyway right?

Do let us know what happens/what you discover...
cheers,

So I downloaded foobar... I don't really understand much about checking mp3 integrity but my songs seemed fine (maybe I didn't check enough? I really don't understand much about this). Due to my lack of knowledge, I thought: "if the files have problems, converting them to another format or downloading them from some other site can solve it, right?", but no. I converted, downloaded one of the albums again, tagged perfectly and my X1061 keeps testing me.
I'm getting really really frustrated. I mean, even if formatting or whatever can solve the problem, this kind of situation wasn't even supposed to happen, since the files play just fine in every other player I have/had.
I wanted this player so much (and it was so expensive!), but now I'm really considering to choose another one. Even iPod. I don't care. I just want some device that works. X1061 has several problems: many people complained about cover art not showing up (happened to me too but I found a way to make it work), "Can't play, file is damaged" warnings (the same) and now this.
Really, what should I do?

Hmmm, i am sorry for your woes, Yumi. However, I am willing to try and help.

PM me...perhaps you can email me a couple of the files that are giving your problems. I will test them for you and see what I can discover...

Cannot hurt and I am glad to try and assist if I can to help you get to the bottom of the problem if possible...

cheers,
-lestatar
