I'm planning on buying a pair of headphones (the large type), around 100 dollars. I'm going to use them at home and walking around school. I mainly listen to alternative rock (Radiohead, Muse, and Nirvana), classic rock, and metal but I pretty much get a good dose of everything except for pop and R&B.
Answers appreciated!

Audio-Technica ATH-M50's are great, and I also love the Shure srh750dj, but the build quality isn't as solid as the M50's.
For slightly more I'd HIGHLY recommend the Ultrasone hfi-780. Those are the cans to beat - really superb SQ, and the build is light weight but sturdy. Also, I listen to pretty much the same crap as you, as well as Type O Negative, Radiohead, Soundgarden, Depeche Mode, and a TON more. All these cans go well w/pretty much all the stuff I listen to.

I'll definitely look into the M50s. The price from a seller on the Amazon Marketplace isn't too high.
The Ultrasones are out of my price range. I just can't bring myself to pay over 200 bucks for a set of cans. EDIT: Also, what's the difference between the M50 and the M50S?

M50S is the straight cable version of M50.
