Default Twitter App Not Signing In (Even After Full Restore)
Hi all,

I noticed last night that the Twitter app would not sign in. I thought it was probably a service-related issue so I ignored it. This morning I again tried to sign in to Twitter with the same result. Type in username/password and get loading animation forever. I then tried a full restore (restart and hold home + media button); still nothing... Anyone else experiencing this? Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Its on twitters side. They shut off "basic auth" yesterday, meaning apps that sign in the regular way (username + password) quit working.

aww piss. i use the twitter app way too much for this crap.

It's microsoft's fault. Twitter has been counting down until the shutdown of "Basic Auth" requests for a while now, this was no surprise to any other major Twitter app developers. Microsoft drops the ball again and we're left with non-functional software, only a symptom of a larger problem.

Except this app isnt the only one to be affected by the turn off.

I'm sure it's not the only one. At least the twitter gadget for windows desktop doesn't work now, either.

Yup, you're right. This is a change Twitter made to their API. While I'm not going to comment on what got us to this point, know that we're already testing a fix. We will remedy this ASAP.
