HTML5 support won't ever happen on the current revision of the Zune HD. If there's a Zune HD2 this year, it too likely will never see HTML5 support. The current Zune HD is use IE6 Mobile, which has hit end of life in terms of development (MS dropped it a few months back). The latest version in WinMo 6.5.3 (which is still a bit more advanced than the ZHD browser, so there is still room for updates) does not feature HTML 5 compatibility.

Also, the web browser in WP6 is IE7 Mobile with elements of IE8 mixed in. It too does not support HTML5 (that's right folks, no HTML5 support on WP7!). IE9 is the first desktop browser from MS that will support HTML5. No idea when this will hit their mobile OS.

Medion, according to this chart, this is incorrect, and HTML5 is compatible with IE8 even when mimicking IE7.

Only the first 3 features, not the latter half. That's an old chart, and there have been significant additions to the HTML5 proposed spec, not the least of which is embedded video. In fact, that doesn't even compare today's browsers (FF 3.6.x, Chrome 5, Safari 5, Opera 10, etc.).

IE 9 will feature full HTML5 compatibility. IE 7 has none, and IE8 only has a handful of features supported.

Very disappointing, even though I never expected HTML 5.
