Having researched on the net, I discovered that there is no record button located on the side of the Fuze. I am curious as to whether the Fuze's recorder is as easily activated: press one button, done.
I have grown accustomed to the convenience of simply pressing a button on my e250r, initiating a recording sequence with no questions asked. Having this feature is of utmost importance. Thanks. |

Not one button dedicated recording, but the Fuze voice recording works thusly:
- select the VOICE [microphone icon]; - select RECORD NOW at the menu; - voice recording automatically begins at this point. While recording, the screen presents PAUSE and STOP options for you. If you select either it will ask you whether or not to save the file. Pretty much it. Hope that works for you - it is easy as pie, enough so that my mom is able to use the Fuze recorder during her singing classes. :-) cheers and welcome to ABi, -lestatar

The Fuze is an excellent mp3 player, but as a recorder it sucks. Unless the speaker's mouth is within around 2-3 feet or so of the player, the recording volume will be low, and background noise will be great. The recorder on the Fuze and Clip+ is basically just so you can hold the player near your mouth and speak directly into it to leave notes for yourself.

I would consider looking into dedicated recording devices for your purposes. They are quite reasonably priced and will certainly yield better results than most mp3 players with voice mics.... my 2 cents, ymmv...

It would be very bad for recording a lecture from the back of the room, but might work if it is on the professor's desk or podium. Imo you would be much better off buying a separate recorder with a microphone jack(in case you need to use an external microphone). Take a look at the new Olympus recorders WS700M, and VN8100PC.
Aside from the low recording sound quality on the Clip+ and Fuze, there aren't really any features to manage recordings. Do yourself a favor and get a real recorder for recording, and a music player for playing music. Last edited by JK98; 08-11-2010 at 04:09 PM. |

I was just hoping to kill to birds with one stone for supper but I guess I won't be doing that. I'll either pull out a shotgun to get the other bird (no one messes with me and gets away with it) or I'll just let it go and make do with one bird.

No mp3 player that I know of is an acceptable recorder, but some recorders might work decently enough as players if you are willing to forgo features like tag browsing or shuffling the music. One recorder that looks interesting is the Olympus WS-700M.
It uses one AAA battery, which imo is a great benefit. It has a micro SDHC card slot, and a built in USB connector. http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...p?product=1515 |

It doesn't matter, I'll get the recorder if I end up needing it.
