Default Credit cards for the marketplace now?

I caught this news article. Seems pertinent.

Dave@MS? Can you tell us if this is relates to the HD, and in what ways?

Anyone else?

nice find...very interesting.

I for one, like the points system since they can be shared between the xbox and zune....but this is a welcome payment method for many.

I like where zune is going, even if it is a punchline for 90% of the people out there.

This is not a total surprise. When they made a flurry of announcements about WP7, they mentioned that real $ currency will eventually be used in the marketplace.

Looks like $ can only be used when you get to the Zune web store from a Bing purchase link. If you go directly to the store, it will still show prices in MS points.

I guess all this is part of positioning Zune as a major music store --- Bing also provides purchase links for iTunes and Amazon MP3 (embrace, extend and extinguish?). There are also reports that that Google will enter the music store/service business.

Actually, this was news to me. I guess this is what happens when you spend all day buried in the hardware world, occasionally I need to poke my head up and check out what the services guys are doing...

Cheers, Dave.

I've known this was coming for a while. The prices in the Windows Phone 7 emulator are in USD, just as djca said. Its really a nice change and I hope it moves into the software and expands further on the Xbox.

OK, so how does one go about letting MS know they want to use a credit card for songs on both the desktop app and on the player marketplace app itself?

Exaggeration was intentional.

Still eager for some news on the next device though...
