hi i am new to this forum and hoping someone could give me some advise i just bought the 1060x and have a problem with the volume i can have it on full 30 and it is quiet i have read on here how loud they are and i am wondering if it has something to do with the way i am ripping the music im using windows media player it is brand new but did not come from a shop (ebay) do you think sony would help if it is faulty thanks

If your in the UE you may have a EU volume restricted Sony (al la France),..................nothing can be done to up the volume.
Or, try pushing the headphone plug all the way into the headphone jack,............you would be surprised at how many of us have made this same mistake in the past.

thanks for your answers cant explain how annoyed i am about this got rid of an ipod touch to get the x 1060 and the volume level is that bad i cant keep it phoned sony this morning who denied knowing anything about volume capping and because i bought it off ebay if i send it off to them they want a proper recipt from a shop does anyone know a way of unlocking it thanks

thanks but think im going to sell it shame really i saw a link on another forum on how to remove the volume cap by entering the service menu but cant find it for this model
