I completely agree with that, it has great design and some great features but it needs more in the interface, like eq settings album art maybe behind the equalizer or something, games, because sometimes having speakers just isnt enough not trying to copy ipod but those are some ideas i would like to have someday.

1.43 KR firmware has custom EQ

so the custom eq can be changed on the k5 itself? does everything else stay the same? no problems, no different format?

You loose the categorization and ability to use Janus protected WMAs from services such as napster and rhapsody...it is the korean firmware.

Just drag the three files, from the unzipped firmware download file folder.. directly onto your K5.. unplug the USB cable and reboot the player.

Everything I drag it directly to the K5 icon or the Internal Storage, my PC say it can't copy these file:

"Cannot copyYPK5.AUI: The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected"

Try right click on the drive in the device and tell it to format. This happened to me after going back to 1.03 and it recognized the device but couldn't put any files on it.

even with the format, it's still the same. Can't copy anything to the device. The only way to transfer song is using SMS or WMP.

hello.. i got my k5 recently... and i tried to update the firmware.. i didnt "safely" remove it and so it said updating on the device and went black. i turned it back on but it freezes at the samsung start up screen but it doesnt go white. my computer doesnt recognize the device. how do i format it? i have tried resetting but it does not seem to have any effect
please help !
also.. my screen has a blue vertical line on it... what is wrong?

- it rebooted and looked to be ok, only it was in either Korean or Taiwanese or something. I managed to get to the settings screen, changed the two items showing to English and Wahoo!

The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected.

A Real Solution:

1. Connect K5
2. Format from in windows explorer, not wmp or samsung soft
2. Goto device manager and uninstall any K5 stuff you see.
3. Disconnect K5
4. Remove samsung media software
5. Grab this: http://www.delldjsite.com/forums/att...tachmentid=462
6. Extract and run fixup.cmd
7. Once its finished reconnect K5 and you should have your data folder now. If not format once more from in windows explorer.

Note: Dont see K5 in windows explorer ? Right click My Computer -> Manage -> Disk Management should be there.

Run into trouble ? Disconnect and hit reset.

Fixup btw removes the mtp drivers and reinstalls them.

I have the above device as a gift and would like very much to use it. The problem there is that when I attempted to perform a firmware upgrade 3 months ago the unit mysteriously switched off and when I try to power it up it freezes when it shows the samsung logo. What can I do to get it to start working?

It will not show up under the 'My Computer' window and i am constantly prompted to add a new hardware item by Windows. Please assist. I have tried to obtain the firmware file from the location specified in this forum but I get an expired page warning.
