Thanks guy!
I moved your post into a new thread
It's strange but this firmware is not on the Korean website. Okay they don't have the library update error because their DAPs are UMS only but maybe Koreans would like to get the microSD issue fixed too! lol

How long does it usually take to find out if this is going to cause more harm than good? Is the library update problem that has been fixed the 13%, the 99% or both? After the last crash, I'm a little hesitant to leave my downgrade of fw1.10 behind.

Both must have been fixed.
I cannot tell you how long it takes, if many people upgrade, you will know it soon, if everybody hesitates like you, you will never know
I upgraded without any problem but I already had no problem before so...At the moment only one another person on gmp3 upgraded. No problem either.

Once you exclude MTP from your life, there is less risk to get an library update error. But normaly with this new firmware there is less risk in MTP mode too.

Did they ever say what the main cause for the 99% hangup/freeze/update error was since they were having a problem reproducing it? Just curious. I will update today or tomorrow now that you've guilted me and made me feel so bad.

I just really hope this is the miracle firmware because when I went to Greece I was really talking up the R0 and everybody that looked at it was shocked at how nice it looked, the sound of the music and the cost--I'm trying to change these American Ipod lovers! In fact, I know I converted 1!

I am not allowed by Samsung to reveal the exact root-cause of the bug. But for them it is linked to the MTP mode (and that explains why only Europeans and Americans have this issue. In Asia Samsung DAPs are MSC only). So they fixed the library update error in MTP mode. People who followed my advices and set the R0 in MSC mode had not this issue in previous firmwares and should not have it in this new firmware either.

BUT I have to say that some days ago a gmp3 member had the library update issue in firmware 1.19 MSC. I guess he is the single one who had the issue in MSC mode. So a very rare situation but that *might* mean that there is another cause of the bug Samsung has not found yet.
But again, I guess he is the single one and that was in firmware 1.19 so that does not really tell us if the firmware 1.22 is 100% safe or not

I did not want to guilt you, you can wait, that's OK! Some people on gmp3 are also waiting for more users feedbacks, they don't want to send their R0 for repair again, I can understand that

regarding MSC / MTP mode:

there is an option to format the R0 (to remove a large amount of (GBs) files), or it's safest to select all-remove?

You can use the format option in the R0 settings, that's fine and safe

My R0 has been killed by 1.22 FW. Stuck in "Checking Firmware". Reset does nothing helpful, can't delete FW binary via USB (no connection). Any ideas?

If there is no USB connection, I guess you cannot do anything.
What happened exactly?

1. Extracted FW binary from archive to R0 root. R0 was 100% charged.2. Safely removed R0 from system.3. PowerOn, "Checking Firmware"... stuck in checking, progressbar stops near 30%.4. I've waited 15 minutes, no further progress.

That's strange, you're the first one to have this issue...
What was your previous firmware? 1.19?
Are your sure the 1.22 ROM file was not corrupted?

Yes, previous (in fact, current) FW was 1.19. I doubt ROM was corrupted, there was no errors unpacking it. But... even rom file WAS corrupted, why current FW hangs up during checksum verification? Why not to display error and delete corrupted rom file (like any other player does)? Seems pretty stupid behavior to me...

No, you're right, if the file was corrupted, it would have told you it cannot upgrade firmware.
I cannot explain why "firmware checking" hangs up.
Sometimes it takes much time but indeed 15min and no progress is really long.
At the moment I cannot do anything. If more people get the same issue I'll report it to Samsung.

What I want to know now - is how to enforce USB connection to PC? May be there is a way to delete ROM.bin somehow? May be some magic key combination exists, leading to "recovery mode"?Customer services here in Russia are EXTREMELY weird...

No way for the user.
The only way to repair it is to use the recovery tool from the after-sales services center with a special USB cable. It's easy to repair, I've done it several times yet, but without the recovery tool and the special cable you cannot do it. You are obliged to send it to the Russia customer service, sorry. Or when you visit Paris, I can do it for you
If they are as weird as your dictatorial government, I can understand that may be a problem lol
(BTW your english is very good!)

I'm officially a team player. I updated from 1.10 to 1.22 last night. All seems to have went well and now I have some of those beautiful lebellium UCIs. So far so good, and I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

Just a question: you can put custom UI's on the R0? I thought that was only for the P3.

Yes > http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=54735

That's also possible on the P2, M1, R1, Q2 and Q1.
So on almost every Samsung DAP. And the P3 is not the first one at all. The P2 was the first Samsung DAP to get UCIs
