1.Denon C751
2.Denon C710
3.Denon C551
4.Westone UM1
5.Klipsch Image S4
6.Monster Turbines
7.Panasonic HJE900
8.Sennheiser CX 400-II
9.Etymotic Research HF5
10.Ultimate Ears Super Fi.4
11.Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220

Wow, huge list with some great stuff.

I know of 2 people who are using the DenonC751/C710 [virtually identical I am told] and the Klipsch S4 with their Clip/+ - they love them and report no issues or need for an amp.

Cannot speak on the rest of your nice list, but I am sure folks will chime in. :-)

They all work with the Clip+ and don't need an amp.

probably depends on your ears and the type(s) of music that you listen to.

Personally I am happy with the JVC FX-66 Air Cushions. But I've never used any of the ones in your list.

The Clip+ is an audio player with neutral, linear output. It has no sound "flavor" of its own. Only sub-par players alter the source sound, the Clip is better than that. There is no "synergy" to worry about, just decide which flavor of sound you would like to hear the most from your earphones, for your personal listening preferences. That's a decision that's entirely based on what you subjectively like, you can take the Clip out of the equation and concentrate on the IEMs alone.

As for technical issues, the Clip+ - same as most other players out there - hisses a bit with overly sensitive IEMs with very low impedance, but other than that it works fine with about anything you throw at it.

I have the ex500s and like them very much - generally as a back-up pair for my ie8s.

Klipsch gets high reviews, for what it's worth.

dfkt put it best, aside from that everything else is opinion based. The best thing to do is know what sound signature you prefer and research, research, research. I read probably 50 reviews of the Klipsch S4 before i purchased them and they we're perfect for me.

I have used Monster Turbines with the Clip+. Great combination if you listen to metal.
