There is a third choice...stick with your current firmware. I haven't upgraded either of my Clips.

Which firmware level are you at now?

You can boot to either fw if you install rockbox, it's only a win

Are you sure of that? a few days ago I updated to the newest FW and Rockbox would not load unless it was version .32 or earlier.

I thought I had up'd it, but it must be on my v2, my v1 rockboxed clips are running .32a

For V2 the .35 would be a no-brainer, as it adds ReplayGain support....but that wouldn't matter on a V1 with Rockbox, of course....because RB has RG, right?

I guess if you patch the new fw it should work, but marvin it does matter to those that still like to boot to the OF as even running rockbox you can dual boot, I just don't cause I don't see a need.

Reiterating the Rockbox site, do keep in mind that Rockbox is not yet complete and stable for the Clip. Others who are using it can speak to the stability issue (which seems to have improved) as well as the battery life with Rockbox (which also has improved).

Also, note the Rockbox qualification that installing it may eliminate the ability to use DRM'ed files on your player, even if Rockbox is removed (this was a situation early on--it's unclear if this circumstance remains).

ReplayGain on the V2 is definitely an enhancement.

And I have folder browsing available on all three of my players, yet I hardly ever see a need to use it.....I must have good tags.

On my v2 clip I don't see a replaygain option under music. Just the shuffle settings. Is it somewhere else?

I didn't see it until I started playing music....then it showed up in music options.

Hmmm... I just installed the v2 firmware 02.01.35 on my v2 Clip (Not Clip+) and I am unable to locate any Replay Gain feature as noted by several earlier posts on this thread... Where exactly should I be looking? Can someone please confirm that the Replay Gain feature does actually exist on v2 Clips following this firmware update?

I think that specification which name ReplayGain is so useless for me. Hence, I turned it off. Because I always edit my playlist's sound level with MP3GAIN program before I send them to my clip v2...
