Ever hear of conversion? Try dBpoweramp with LAME v3.92, you won't be able to tell the difference between your FLACs and Mp3s.

If a player does not have hardware support for a particular audio/video format, that's it. It won't play it, ever.
Unless somebody manages to get custom firmware like RockBox running on Walkmans, which will never happen since Sony are Anti-Homebrew/Modding Nazis who lock down all of their players with DRM.
