Default I don't understand yall's hate of WP7

Since Windows Phone 7 was announced it seems like everyone on this board is against it, saying that their leaving the HD in the dust, but i'm really excited for WP7. Its taking the zune pass that I love, and making it compatible with 3G devices! Yes, it may leave the Zune HD in the dust, but shouldn't this be seen as further development and expansion of the Zune ecosystem?

PS- I remember a rumor awhile back that a Zune video pass will soon come, any validity to that?

I like WP7. People are just upset that the Zune HD won't get the WP7 apps.

I don't think it will leave Zune in the dust. The WP7 will come in 2 flavors and thats 4 or 8 gig of storage.
So yeah it will have some of the Zune but limited on storage and if you don't have a Zune Pass then you'll want to keep your Zune PMP.

That's not WP7, that's KIN, which is a different (cheaper) beast altogether. Kin uses Tegra APX2600 (same as Zune HD), whereas WP7 uses Tegra 2.

FYI: The current sample Windows Phone 7 devices out there are not Tegra 2 (or 1) based. So no, WP7 is not tied to Tegra 2.

Correct. WP7 is compiled to work on ARM-based CPUs. Tegra 2 is one such CPU that it's intended for. However, that platform isn't ready yet (yes, it's been announced, but the hardware won't be available for a few more months).

Also, Snapdragon has been mentioned as being in the mix. I guess I shouldn't have spoken in definitive terms, because Tegra 2 certainly won't be the only platform that WP7 runs on. I wanted to present one more example of how WP7 was positioned ahead of KIN, and worded it poorly.

I stand corrected. The minimum storage will be 8Gb and so far no manufacturer has said they will produce anything over that.

Below are the minimum specs required per MS for the phone.
Quote:
Capacitive Touch: 4 or more contact points
Sensors: A-GPS, Accelerometer, Compass, Light, Proximity
Camera: 5 megapixels or more, Camera with a flash and dedicated camera button
Multimedia: Common detailed specs, Codec acceleration
Memory: 256 MB, 8 GB Flash or more
GPU: DirectX 9 acceleration
Processor: ARMv7 Cortex/Scorpion or better
2 screen sizes: 480800 WVGA, 480320 HVGA
Keyboard: Optional
Hardware Buttons: Must be fixed on the face

For me, anyway, 8GB of storage is not much of an issue on a 3G device since I have the Zune Pass. For non-Pass users, I think it would suck, though, unless the phones will take microsd cards or something.
