Default Please explain the menu system

Hi

I've had my s9 for some time and I still do not understand the concept of mainmenu1 ... mainmenu3 and how it relastes to themes. I've installed Claws UI and would like to install other themes but I don't understand.

Could someone explain how the menus relate to each other? Do the 3 menus exist in the default s9 config?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

The S9 has three default main menus:
  • the matrix (ie, the one that looks like an ipod touch screen)
  • if on 2.5 or above, the list screen
  • and finally, the widget screen

If you get UCIs, you but them in the System folder, and name then mainmenu1->3. These will then replace the corresponding stock one from above

So lets say you get claws, and put it as mainmenu3. This now means that if you try and change between menus, you'd have the stock matrix, the stock list, and claws.

If you still dont get it, I'll try and show you with images

so you have this UCI as mainmenu1 with the stock setup

then these two as 2 and 3

if you were to upload a new UCI to the player, you'd put it in here, and name it mainmenu1/mainmenu2/mainmenu3. Any additional files just get put in there, for example a lock screen flash file. IF you set it as main menu one, it will replace the first cowon menu.

In the end, you end up with this. Happy S9ing!

Well this is aero VTX, but same idea

Just an FYI:
The syntax for the other menus is not the same as the mainmenuN.swf convention.

For the other menus the syntax is N_"othermenu".swf Where "othermenu" could be browser, music, etc. e.g 2_music.swf could be used to have Dark eVolution as the music player for the second mainmenu screen or 3_browser.swf could be used to have the klausbrowser on the 3rd mainmenu screen.

Thanks for the extra info RoloJam. I was wondering why I couldn't have a different "music.swf".

I screwed up. Any reference to browser.swf should actually read browser_total.swf

Sorry about that.
