Default Any hints or tips for Omok?

Omok is IMO the only game worth playing on the P2 (except for the Jigsaw if it had more pictures). I really enjoy this game but so far I have never won a single round. I tried many times, many techniques but the damn AI always wins. Do you have any hints you could share with me. Where should i start from? Should I strike or block? Anything you consider helpful is welcome.

I think the only way you can win is by doing two separate 4-dot lines so that the computer has no chance but chose to block only one. But that is so hard to do...

lol it seems to me that the computer can actually hit harder....

and also, theres a strategy i use: hit your piece in front of a opponets piece, so if the opponent wants to hit you out, they risk hitting their own team out too!

Just try lots of times, you'll get the move I once got to make 6 in a row, but the game doesn't allow you to, and i lost it after all

I once checked in Wikipedia about the game. There it said the game is a bit pointless beacuse it was calculated that the winner can only be either the first one to start or the game ends even (when playing perfectly). So it is a kind of a dead end...

in the case that you are still interested in omok here you go everyone

It's easier to put your first piece somewhere at the corner (3x3 or 4x4 at corner). Reason: comp will follow you and put a piece right next to it. Since comp is a really good attacker, we need to stop him from attacking first. Being at the corner, comp won't have much land to expand, and it will be easier to block him.

My second piece i will put somewhere in the middle or even further to the right (i put my first in the left). Reason: comp will put his second piece somewhere next to his first. Hey, i now 1 free buddy out here.

The third piece can be either next to 2nd or somewhere between 1st and 2nd to try to connect them. Reason: Comp somehow don't bother with my 2nd and 3rd piece. Hey, now i have 2 free buddies out there. Comp will keep attacking with what he has which is whatever he got next to the 1st piece. His attacks are not as potent since he has the disadvantages at the corner.

4th piece, you are on your own (try to connect pieces is what you should do)

I played more that 1 hundred match with comp and my ratio is 1(me):2(comp) meaning i won 1/3 of the matches.

SUM UP: place 1st piece at corner gud lak

That's ALGGAGI.

ONTOPIC: Try and get your pieces at least 4 diagonal and 4 straight. If you can't get that you are pretty much done.
