Thanks posters. The playlist issue was driving me up the wall.

Mashing up all the advice above, I put the music on the player and then created the playlists with VLC and saved the m3u playlist to the clip. Then I edited it with notepad using the replace function to correct the directories. Very fast.

Thanks for the help.

Default Winamp can do it automatically when transfering

I read most of the posts tried a couple of the processes and they worked. How f**&ing annoying to have to do anything.

Anyway while I was checking the transcoding rate in the portables section in winamp it asks you right there if you want to remove the slashes from the beginning of the playlists when you transfer them.

Just open preferences in winamp select your portable drive, clip is a usb drive, whatever the letter. Go to advanced and the last option is "playlist writing options" Just say no slash at the beginning.

I guess winamp is not so bad.

WTF, no one else saw this for 2 years on this thread.

Default Old Sansa

Why did Sansa change this anyway? I had a older 1GB, not a clip, but it worked right out of the box with winamp.

Funny but I have two Clips, one Fuze, and one Clip+. All worked straight out of the box with Winamp. I use MSC mode, copy songs to the player with drag & drop, create playlists in Winamp using songs from the player, and save the playlist to the player. AND THE PROCESS WORKS JUST FINE on all of the mentioned Sansa players and my Samsung yp-Z5.

Still dinking around making playlists on the player. I make all my playlists from my library in winamp. Just select a playlist that you already made for your library and send to: No messing around, one step, no dinking.
