How do I convert .lit .htm files to .txt?

Is it possible? I downloaded all Stephen King's novels and want to read them on my i9. Only a few of them are in .txt.

Yes! Here are a few apps, all free to try [I am a huge reader/ebook reader and have tried nearly every converter out there]...

Calibre:

Stanza Desktop:

ABC Amber Lit:

Calibre is the most advanced and feature rich, also open source...Extremely popular and powerful.

Stanza Desktop is also excellent, much smaller but also imports/exports between a ton of formats.

ABC Amber Lit is hit and miss, but that company offers a lot of free text converters [they seem to like making a ton of small, targeted converters for specific formats rather than 1 large do-it-all app].

You'll have to play around with a few apps to find the ones that work best - text conversion from .lit especially can be tough.

And of course, some do a better job than others with stripping out formatting for straight text...

LIT is locked down DRM crap made by Microsoft. I would suggest you download the files again in a more useful format like HTML or DOC. Other than that, Google for a LIT converter, but that might be a hassle.

EDIT: Lestatar beat me to it, with a less political and more hands-on approach to the issue.

dkft: True dat re: LIT. It is the ebook version of DRM crap like you said. SOOO ANNOYING!

But there are converters which will strip off the DRM and convert to .txt files, generally with good results most of the time. I have one somewhere in addition to the ones I posted...Trying to find it for Dreamnine...
