So you say the custom bio works, but the images don't?

As for the Generate-Button: Unless the label beneath states "Unofficial UUID" you shouldn't have to click it at all

Both - Background and Gallery Image - options in the dropdown should be working. As for the Device Background Option - like I previously said, I'm working on getting the Zune itself to DL that information.

The bio was downloaded automatically and is shown in both the zune software and the device but there are no pictures as part of it. I'll try and do some more playing around with ZC tonight.

So it's not the bio you entered in ZC but the original Zune.net bio, right?

That's correct. I'll find an artist with no bio either, should have plenty of Australian artists that haven't made it into Microsofts dayabase

Just a quick update.. still fixing the software, but way more important:

Please note that there still seems to be quite a few issues with this.. first, it queries the deviceBackgroundImage URL everytime it got internet access.. if it doesn't have internet access, it won't query the image and it won't show up.. seems to me like there's no cache information sent by my app, so that should be quite easy to find and fix

And the custom background file (480x480px, JPEG) I used:

Gotta see if other formats work as well

My problem when selecting "Proxy settings..." on Windows 7 Professional with "Zune Costums Tech Preview 1".

Code:
See the end of this message for details on invoking

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Alright, here we go again

Quote:
ZuneConsole V1.0

ZuneConsole is a console app that lets you add custom artist images and bio to your Zune HD.

It's a console app and it's not quite simple to use, so you should definitely read the tutorial I put up on Codeplex.

And now, without further ado, here's all the links you need to get going.

Download ZuneConsole
View Tutorial

Visit CodePlex Site (support)

Philipp

I have a question regarding the latest version of your program. I was following the steps and everything was going fine until I reached the step where you had to clear all the data from your Zune.

Does it actually delete all your data from your Zune entirely so that you would need to re-add all your music and apps every time you actually want to update an Artist page?

I'm only concerned about it because it does take quite a long time to add all your data back, especially those with the 32GB models. Since this version does seem like it works I will definitely try it out another day when I have a couple hours free to re-add all my music, lol.

Hey there!
Unfortunately yes, this means all data on your Zune will be erased. As long as you don't delete the sync groups in your Zune Software though it'll sync music automatically back over for ya.
I'm right in the middle of finding another way to do this, which will most likely result in deleting the Zune's internal cache somehow.

Philipp

The app's root directory is where you extrated the archive to (If you didn't extract it yet, do so ^^)

It's the same directory you run the app from.

It's called ZuneConsole.exe, but may not have the file extension depending on how you have Windows displaying files. It'll have the Zune logo for an icon. When you run it, make sure you right click and select "Run As Administrator" if you're using Windows 7 or Vista. There's an excellent tutorial for using the software here: http://zuneconsole.codeplex.com/releases/view/40884

Also, I've noticed that you do not have to purge your Zune HD in order to have custom backgrounds. I've been able to delete the artist from the device (on the artist menu, hold on the artist and pick delete), "hook" ZuneConsole, start the software, connect the Zune and resync the artist and the new background I created will end up on the device. Sometimes, it will take a while (15+ minutes) for the background to show up, but it works!

That is indeed great news! I'm gonna update the tutorial accordingly later today.

Btw,
I'm nearly done with the process of adding custom artists Zune doesn't yet know

Since a lot of people already asked for one, I quickly set up a PayPal donation site:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...=AMSVAAJDAWX4J

Thanks a lot to everyone who'd like to donate something. All donations go into covering further development costs of the app/future Zune apps.

Philipp

Very very good !!

@Christoph680

ZuneConsole not work with some artists (JPOP), even if they have official UUID.

(example)
- Mika Nakashima, UUID 99b10900-0600-11db-89ca-0019b92a3933
- Boa, UUID 38b10d00-0600-11db-89ca-0019b92a3933

but it work with Ayumi Hamasaki and Hikaru Utada.

[edit]

Bonnie Tyler and Lene Marlin not work.
