I've had my S9 since last September (and absolutely love it...by far the best mp3 player I've owned), and yes, I do have several faint, hard-to-see scratches on it. you need to really tilt it at the right angle to see them, but they are there, and they are scratches. I carry my S9 in my pocket without a screen protector on it daily.
The glass IS very tough and it's definitely hard to scratch (much harder than all my Samsung's I've owned), but it does scratch.

Several times I've thought my S9 was scratched, but it turned out to be dirt that could be scraped off with a finger nail.
So far, not a single scratch on mine and I use it every day.
