Didn't have any problems with it at all.

Plays mostly all of my files except for the ".wma" files.
You can disable the software replacing metadata by going to settings > metadata and ratings > and clicking on only add missing information.

What did it do, exactly? Did it actually mess around with folder locations or what?

Zune only syncs with files in the Zune-specified folders right? I have music on a NAS so I guess I can just dedicate up to 32GB in the Zune folder for a copy of the music... because I don't really want the original files modified.

In what way did it rearrange the order? Elaborate please.

The only shortfalls I find with the Zune Software is the computer power necessary to run it smoothly, and the fact that if I want to use a different player besides the Zune I have to use other inferior software to do so.

okay see if you can understand me. I had music folder in my laptop arranged by "Date Modified" and grouped by "Year". This means whenever a downloaded a song into my music folder it would group it under "Today". then later on it categorized it by "Earlier on in the week" or "Last Week".

The zune software upgrading the id3 tags on my mp3 files meaning my older songs would be categorized as "today" and so on. Get it?

Could you arrange your music folder by "Date Created" instead of "Date Modified" to get it back to the way you had it before?
