Having a (Rockboxed) iRiver H320, would it be wise to buy a D2+ ?

I am still a very glad owner of an iRiver H320. With Rockbox and Shure SE530's it still gives a great sound. However I am considering to buy a smaller and lighter player and my attention was drawn to the iAudio D2+ (16GB). At first sight it looks great.
But how is the sound quality, compared to the H320 ? Is it on the same level (or even better) or will I be disappointed ?

I do not believe you will feel the sq is better, but I don’t think you can go wrong with the d2 and many are already running rockbox on the d2 if that makes you feel better.

One more question though.
Meanwhile I did some searching and read some "horror" stories about MSC mode and that you have to go through a lot of hassle to get it working correctly. Is this still true or has it been solved meanwhile by a FW upgrade ?

Never read that, it's hard to believe selecting mode is an issue.

I read through the thread you referred and still believe that mode selection was an isolated issue which certainly would not sway my opinion. I’ve always used my i7 in MSC mode and all the people that I know who own D2’s run theirs the same, fact is my cowon has never run in MTP since I’ve owned it.

I don't know if at your side, it still possible to look for a D2 as cowon has replaced it with D2+. D2+ has no rockbox yet i think

IIRC the only differance between the two is firmware, so I don't see why the "+" couldn't be rockboxed.
