Default file size limit of .avi files for playback on S9?

I was wondering if there is a file size limit for .avi playback on the S9.

I copied a 2.43 GB .avi file to my S9, and it won't play.

The specs of the file are 720X416, 192kbps MP3, 23 frames/second, 2121kpbs 12 bit Xvid.

I understand that I could have reduced the resolution and bitrate considerably without noticing any quality problems on the S9.

I already had this .avi handy for high quality playback via USB port on my DVD player on my TV.

The .avi file plays back fine on my computer, and appears to have copied completely to my S9.

I'm fairly certain that the resolution and bitrate aren't too high for playback on the S9, as I converted a large batch of of stuff to .avi with these same specs, this particular file just happened to be of 2 hours and 30 minutes worth of video and is the largest .avi file that I've ever tried to play on my S9.

I searched here and elsewhere online about a file size limit for .avi playback on the S9, and didn't see this mentioned anywhere.

Anyone know what is going on here?

Also, I'd be curious to know what the largest file size .avi people have played on their S9.

Thanks.

There may be a 2gb limit due to the way the memory is formatted. It's possible the device can't access more than 2gb at a time. I remember bumping into that limit a few versions back with Windows.

Thanks for the reply. Sometime soon, I might experiment and set the size of an .avi to a little less than 2 GB and then set one as a little more than 2 GB as a test.

FAT32 has a 2GB limit on file sizes, anything bigger is treated as unreadable.
