Really some great work from Samsung on this one...
all sliders e.g. in the DNSe equalizer work way better and album art loading times are nearly completely gone. One can see the massive improvements in the response rates etc in the settings of the time/date where you weren't able to change hours/minutes/day... that fast, when you tried too fast it just went "10 - 9 - 10 - 9 -10" if you know what i mean...now its that fast you don't even see some of the numbers. I won't be able to test things like the battery life because the USB-cable is broken and right now on its way to samsung in order to be replaced - once my battery dies i'll have to wait some - hopefully - days (and not weeks) maybe someone of you might test whether this update had an influence on battery life

Have to correct myself... it is not entirely great work from Samsung
I got about 6 or 7 crashes while playing music in shuffle mode, first I assumed it only occured when I tried skipping BACK then it happened while I was skipping FORWARDS and then again after a song finished... and the 'funny' part is that each time I started it up afterwards, the message 'Recovering Firmware' was blinking on the screen which took some time (about one goddamn minute - two minutes until full startup) and was really annoying... so the conclusion is: - faster response rates - everything seems smoother - music search finally works BUT: - random crashes after which the player has to reinitialize the firmware at least PopPop is fun // now crashed while changing mode to shuffle, seems to be related to this function Last edited by Rappelinho; 11-30-2009 at 09:33 AM. |

Crashs and minor bugs will be fixed in further firmwares as usual.

Now if I could only find an R1 (or an M1) to buy and evaluate!

I'm having the same problems with the crashing. It does seem to be when you try to change the track when you're on random mode. And that 'recovering firmware' takes forever (perhaps I'm just impatient!)
I have a question - is it usual that after updating the firmware all your settings are reset? After spending such a long time getting everything perfect (screen layout, etc) I was not impressed to see it all changed back to the default!

Hi, I recently got a replacement for my R1 because it kept flashing 'Recovering Firmware' and turning off, and it was all going good, but then after I synced my songs, it did the exact same thing!
My new R1 refuses to turn on and I notice other people have been having this 'Recovering Firmware' issue, but they manage to fix it? My question is: how???!! I could really appreciate the help since I don't want to wait another 2 weeks for a potential new one. Thanks in advance.

I'd say the only way to fix the 'recovering firmware' issue is to wait:
a) till it starts up again (always did, no problems with the player not working after that) b) for the next firmware i got my usb-cable replaced, i appreciate samsungs good service :-) --- player crashed while starting flash-app ---- seems to crash more often when skipping BACK in shuffle Last edited by Rappelinho; 12-11-2009 at 03:41 PM. |
