the v1 can be rockboxed, the v2 cannot yet (rockbox.org)
other than that, it's just some different fw numbers (nothing important in the ui afaik)

It's just like ultrauber said.
Unless you want to install Rockbox, it really would not matter. However, if you want to know, the v2 Fuze's firmware will be 2.XX.XX, whereas v1 is 1.XX.XX

v9 will save the most, however, i wouldn't go below v4 or v5. if sq isn't a huge deal, 128 cbr or abr is probably fine. personally, I use v0 for when I upgrade to better phones

I use V0. In a blind test, I might not hear a difference between it and V3 or V4, but I have peace of mind that even if I upgrade headphones, I'll still be happy with the sound. And I can fit most everything I want to listen to from my collection onto my two players with V0.
I wouldn't load my DAP up with lossless files, on the other hand, unless I had a really high capacity flash player....seems like overkill otherwise.

Also, I think after I installed v2, an icon for slotradio was added to the main menu screen
And I have still to figure out how to get rid of it...nothing too big, just annoying |

well either with or without your knowledge you upgraded the firmware on your player from .26 to .28 which explains the slotradio icon added to the main menu screen. The only way to get rid of it is to downgrade the firmware again from .28 back to .26

"The only way to get rid of it is to downgrade the firmware again from .28 back to .26"
I see no reason to use the 28 firmware rather than the 26, but wouldn't setting the region to Europe with the 28 firmware get rid of the Slotradio icon? I guess doing that though would also change the FM radio increment from 0.2 to .05. It might also lower the maximum volume though. |
