Default Sansa Clip+ and Last.fm scrobbling

Currently I have a 2GB iPod Nano. It's served me well, but I'm looking for a replacement (mainly due to wanting a device with higher capacity), and the Sansa Clip+ 8GB looks to me like a good player at a very good price.

During my research there has been one major question that I've been unable to get an answer for, regarding the Sansa Clip+ and Last.fm scrobbling. Basically, I want to know whether, if I went out and bought a Sansa Clip+ tomorrow, would I be able to scrobble from it?

I'm aware that the current firmware doesn't allow for scrobbling, but I've heard of Rockbox during my research, and am aware that one of its features is to allow play counts to be recorded and scrobbles to be submitted. So if I were to load Rockbox onto my Sansa Clip+, could I then happily scrobble away?

If not, then are there any other Sansa players that are able to scrobble via Rockbox at the moment?

I listen to most of my music portably, and I really enjoy using Last.fm, so not having some kind of scrobbling functionality is a dealbreaker when it comes to determining my choice of MP3 player.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rockbox has not been prepared for the Clip+. I would GUESS that it might take a year or more to be ready. Assuming that a group of Rockbox developers decide to work on it.

Thanks for the reply.

I've also been considering a Sansa Fuze, but I hear that the V2 version of the Fuze isn't currently supported by Rockbox.

Any suggestions on another Sansa player?

The Sansa Clip V1 or Sansa Fuze V1 have an 'almost' complete Rockbox.

How you get a V1 version of those two is not well-defined. Used is best.

I'm not sure how "almost" the original Clip v1 port is ... Perhaps others will have fuller info. as to that.

Fuze is a great player with rockbox, but you may choose a used one, so youre sure that u get a v1. I did it, im not using yet because i need to buy the cable.

ill use fuze till they develop RB for clip+.

I tried to make a work-around for my clip to scrobble the last.fm, somehow, provided that I rate every song I would like to submit.
scrobble for sansa clip to last.fm

Still I don't know if this is also doable with clip+. Would be nice if someone could provide some MTABLE.SYS files under controlled environment to play with, if the file is still there on clip+.
