Any Complaints about the X?
Overall I've read great reviews about the Sony X Series Walkman (on cnet, amazon, abi reviews, etc), but I did see a few that worried me. One person said their touch screen started going bad, another said their base/volume stopped working, and there were a handful of reviews on amazon that mentioned slacker not working. Are these flukes or consistant flaws with the X? Are there any other complaints about the X? Thanks.

Touch screen on the X is VERY good, pwns the Ipod Touch a lot.
The only bad thing I would complain about the X series is the bad video support (only MPEG 4 and 320x240 resolution), and the crappy web browser. ALthough people say the web browser is OKAY with mobile sites, although on QWERTY keyboard. It uses a T9 text input system (like how you text on cellphones)

Mobile pages are okay with the browser. I'm used to looking at mobile sites on my smartphone so I have no problems.
What I do is enter all sites on favorites and just access from there.

overpriced
slow cpu - takes ages to load album art and even text when scrolling through them Web browser sucks, alot of people's one (including mine) cannot get youtube to work

Yeah I looked at the S series. The album art wasn't very "pretty" but obviously that isn't the most important thing. I read something about an S740 and S640 and the picture of them looked like it had a better display. Do you know anything about these models? Are they going to be released in the US?

i heard the X on demo.... after I had my s639f for a couple of months
if you cant notice the MASSIVE difference between these players... man you should.

Do you think sony will ever fix the youtube issue? Like release a patch or something? because all I got from customer support was to try using the browser or another wireless connection
o_0 the browser doesn't support flash and I use many different connections. I personally do not think the staff at these support centers have no expertise in SONY products

do not count on any fixes for the new X series, this is hardly sony's style to be releasing patches. besides the player sports a weak cpu, best to wait for walkmans next year.

To be honest, I couldn't hear any difference between the X series that I had in the summer and the S series that I've got now. This is using either my Sennheiser or Sony MDR-V300 headphones, rather than the stock bundled earbuds. I couldn't get the IEMs supplied with the X, to stay in my left-ear for more than a few minutes anyway.
I've read that both players have the 'S series digital amplifier', so the SQ should be very similar anyway.

The included earbuds are crap - bass and treble are accentuated too much. Plus I'm never going to use noise cancelling anyway.
As far as SQ - if this is placebo I'm enjoying it. Those guys at Head-fi are on to something.

im very happy.. Its never going to be thrilling looking at a webpage on a 3 inch screen so i never expected anything there.. I bought for sound quality and thats what i got, all my music sounds stunning whatever type it is.
Love the screen too, I had the bright on 4 but tried on 5 and now i dont wanna go back! my complaint would be having to turn on wifi and connect before going online.. sony should of used logic to turn it on automatically when you push an internet source then asked if you wanted to turn it off when you exit.
