What is the advantage of using the "special" jack instead of the mini-usb? I heard you could listen at the same time as charging it, anything else? If connecting it to my stereo will the sound be better if using this jack instead of the ordinary stereo mini-jack (it is possible)?

proprietary connectors allow for more signals to be transmitted than a typical usb. It allows you to have multi-channel sound, tv out, and all kinds of other things that would not be as possible or work as well with a standard usb cable. There was an article on the main page awhile back about proprietary versus standard connections, i believe. I'm speaking on a general level however, I don't know much about the D2 or it's specific connector.

Thanks.
Anybody else know if the sound will improve (connecting it to the stereo) by using this jack and if it is possible? |

The sound may improve depending on the stereo, however the propietary jack is more for a TV-out to watch video than for sound quality. If you're running a 2.0 or 2.1 stereo setup the audio jack will PROBABLY do you just fine, if you're using a 5.1 or better setup and want a full 5 channel experience a simple MP3 player, albeit a good sounding one like the D2, wouldn't be the best source.
The major deciding factors for you would be -What file types are you using? lossless? MP3? if so what quality? If you're using MP3 at anything below -V0 Lame VBR with a good error correcting encoder then it might not even be worth it, no matter the connections you can't make a bad file good unless you re rip What kind of stereo do you have? if you're using a cheap stereo system that isn't that great in the first place don't bother trying a different connection. Do you have any problems with your currrent sound quality? if it isn't broke, don't fix it. If you are happy with the current sound you have, don't worry about having a better connection.

The Cowon D2 doesn't have an audio line out, with or without a special cable. Its said to turn the volume up to 47-50 and leave the EQ flat with the BBE off for a near line out signal.
