I've finally received mine. No bugs I can find except for maybe one freeze trying to play a non-compatible movie file.

I think I would rather get the Creative Zii.... unless Im addicted to movies and can't stand 3.5"screens..... If only this or the Creative Zii could get the Android Market!!!

The Zii is far more buggy than the Archos 5. It's a developer's platform, and even with Android on it much of the native hardware is as yet unused. You'll pay $399 to own a Zii that's not a retail version, and less can buy you the Archos 5 32gb.

Archos 5 yes, Creative Zii hell no. The Zii is for developers only, and the Archos will eventually come into it's own (I hope).

Does the Archos 5 much potential with Android though?

Potential? Of course. The hardware is all in place. You can already find and download apps to it. How well it does depends on whether they update to android 1.6 or 2.0 with app support for the higher resolution screen.

I'd rather get an Android phone, like the Droid. It does everything that these Android PMP's do, and more.

But Archos 5 w/ Android sounds pretty awesome. 500GB...500! No phone can top that...

For other Canadians here futureshop.ca has a listing for 2 versions of the Android Archos 5. They aren't cheap but 399.99 for the 32 gig and 429.99 for 500 gig is what they are listed at......

Considering how so many other things aren't gonna make it to Canada until Halfway through next year this amazes me.

I haven't heard anything said about how much better battery performance the SD version gets over the HD one. The poor battery life of the hard drive versions is one of a few reasons I decided against the 5. Seeing them fix something like that would be cool.
