Default Sansa Clip+ titles scrambled in 01.01.05A

Just got a black C+ 8gb, working great. The only problem is that all the yellow titles are kind of scrambled - the top part is legible, but the bottom few pixels of the titles are screwed up. The battery display is normal and the tracknum display while playing is also good. Title while connected is also messed up.

My firmware is V01.01.05A. So far I've plugged into Linux (Crunchbang, spin of Ubuntu 9.04) and XP SP3. Is this a known bug/will it me fixed in FW updates? Not a huge issue, as it's still readable, but a minor nuisance.

First I've heard of this, but I have no Clip+ (nor plans to buy one unless/until Rockbox takes hold) to compare with personally.

First I've heard of this issue too and AFAIK it's not a known bug, not sure if reinstalling the FW would help, but there hasn't been any new FW released yet.

If it bothers you, exchange at the place of purchase or RMA it, SanDisk is good about RMA's and it's really not that bad to go through, good luck and let us hear back the outcome.

Alright, I called Sandisk at 1 866 Sandisk and they told me I should contact Amazon (that's where I ordered it) and return it under warranty. I don't know if I want to go through the trouble considering how long this has taken - I already had delivery issues and had to send it back once. If/when FW updates come out will they possibly fix this? Or is it a hardware thing?

Don't know if anyone has seen this issue yet to know for sure, so it could be a hardware or fw issue. You could check to see if there's a best buy anywhere in the Seattle area and see if they have the demo clip+ set up, so you can look at it, most of their stores have it.

I'd think twice about the return if you can't fix it.

I just tried to scan it to have a pic to upload...and the resulting scan looked fine! So perhaps this is some weird combination of my eyes/refresh rate? Though it doesn't happen on my SE, and it could just be the low res scan.

Also, is there a way to simply reinstall the firmware? That would be something to try.

It's easy to reapply the firmware, but as there have been no upgrades, yet, there isn't a firmware package to apply. Likely there will be one before the end of the year or so.
