From the requirements:
MAC OS 10.X/ Linux v2.4 or higher (support only for data transfer) USB 2.0 High Speed recommended. I use Linux and both MTP (MTP drivers with Amarok and/or Gnomad2 as root) and MSC (device mounts as "Cowon S9") worked flawlessly. Should not be a problem as long as you have OS 10.

It means MSC mode works, but MTP mode doesn't. MTP is needed to support DRMed WMA tracks you bought from online stores. MSC is the standard, like every USB hard disk or flash memory stick is recognized.

I have 2 failures with my COWON S9,
1) - the first was catastrophic and I had to return the S9 for replacement. It failed comp^letely unable to switch on, charge the battery or see from PC. 2) - the second was not as bad, I was unable to use the S9 normally, it could not read its own directory structure and it would hang / freeze irregularly. I had to re-format the drive (FAT32), relaod the system file (v2.41) and start again, this was easy enough to do. The COMMON element so far with both failures was after connection to an Apple MacBook running OS 10.4. I am not a Mac person and do not have acces to a MAc to prove if the Mac in fact is the cause of the problem. Has anyone out there experineinced anyhting similar. Seth Reeder, Burgundy, France. |
