Unfortunately it doesn't improve touch performance
It isn't very smooth on my R1...

Thanks for update - how do you install it? is it a case of dropping it into the root folder and reboot the R1?

I also wanted to ask about the 'worldsubway' widget - is it not included on the R1? I cannot find it, and have not been able to find it for download either.

Yes, extract it and drag and drop the file at the root, then reboot.
What is this widget? I don't know it

Thanks for that - updated with no problems. I could not see any changes with the new firmware - nothing added, nothing missing.

The 'worldsubway' widget was on the P3 - it allowed you to browse all subway maps from around the world. I also noticed that the dictionary is not there as well? I have seen both functions on video reviews (youtube) but perhaps it was for the Chinese market only?

Apart from those minor niggles I am liking the device - the Divx compatablity and TV Out is a big bonus.

I have been trying to register the product online and through Emodio but with no joy (I was interested to see if there were any themes or widegts to download). I have noticed that the R1 is not listed on the UK website. Is it not officially released yet?

I'm not sure we will get Overseas Subway.

UCI Themes can only be downloaded on EmoDio Korea but we cannot sign in so...
Actually it should be released on Monday in Europe so not listed yet.
Where did you get it?

I picked mine up at an Argos store in London last week. I did notice that they are now not showing the R1 on their online catalogue. Perhaps they had released it too early?

I installed the subway/dictionary file you provided - as you mentioned they are both Korean, so not much fun to be had there.
Since then I have been having probelms removing them. I have even tried to reformat the player but with no joy. Can you help?

I don't know because in France normaly it had to be released last week but due to a firmware problem (too many bugs), they had to upgrade every single R1 before selling them.
So maybe Argos sold the R1 last week and stopped this week. Actually it isn't clear...

What do you mean exactly? You cannot remove the dictionary files on the R1?

If you are in KR region code, try the FM radio in Korea region mode, it's funny

I noticed on Play.com they are due to be released tomorrow - so perhaps they were recalled as you suggested. I have had no problems with the plaer. The touchscreen can be a little unresponsive at times, but its not enough to make it unusbale.

After I installed the file, and found that the dictionary and map were of no real use, I decided to remove the file. The file was no longer in the root of the player, and although I have reformatted the device and re-installed the 1.11 firmware, those widgets are still there, and player is stuck in Korea mode - which I have since changed the language, region etc to UK/Europe. I have also noticed on the radio that my region options are either Korea, US or worldwide - no Europe.
My Firmware version is: VER 1.11 KR-00-II4(Touch 45)

Hope that makes some sense.

Ah okay no problem.
Widgets remain even if they are no files in KR region code.
To go back to EU region code and remove thoses widgets, just put this file at the root
For the Radio it's normal, there isn't a Europe option, even in EU code. You have to select Worldwide

Problems with this firmware
-Still to many crashes.
-Music search doesn't work well > "No file" notification
-Mobile Phone Bluetooth search option disappeared from beta firmware

I got only 7h30 battery life in Audio with DNSe enabled
I hope they will improve that on the next firmware!

And MyDNSe: "V" EQ, Clarity 1, 3D 1, Bass 0, Hall 0

Maybe I have a defect unit. Because 7h30 battery Life is very very poor. Like Ipods in 2003...

Nope! waste of time. I should have known better. I'd still like R1 UI on my P3 though

i don`t think R1`s UI is so different than P3, they are nearly same except a different style/colour, and what P3 superior is R1 has a limit Widget allowed on your player`s desktop, but R1 has 2 new features, "DJ" and search song using sketch/hand-writing (but this feature is a little buggy or hard to use, always show "no file" like Lebellium said)
