Default Just Use Rockbox?

So I guess it's more worth it to wait until Rockbox comes out for the Sansa. Because if you mod and it bricks, then the warranty is void

But:

If you use Rockbox and it bricks, is the warranty still intact? I mean, is the Rockbox an official program that Sandisk has let to be made for the Sansa?

No. Sansa is in no way involved with Rockbox and it will most likely be considered as a warranty void by SanDisk if they find Rockbox on a broken Sansa.

But is Rockbox safer than modding? Because everyone is waiting for Rockbox...

Rockbox is safe, I have been loading test builds hundreds of times. The worst thing that could happen is having the player tell you to go to recovery mode and put in a valid firmware. It does not modify the original bootloader in any way...

If done correctly, rockbox is very safe and there is pretty much zero chance of bricking your player vs. modding yourself. However, at this stage, rockbox is not fully ready for the Sansa and we just need to be patient and wait it out. Be patient. Good things come to those who wait

Well there is now a new bootloader though, isn't there? Would that increase your chance of bricking the player?

The Rockbox bootloader does not replace the Sansa bootloader (BL_SD_boardSupportSD.rom) Instead it replaces the firmware (PP5022.mi4) and then loads either Rockbox or the original firmware from the disk, so installing the Rockbox bootloader is as safe as doing a normal firmware upgrade.
