Default Is the firmware code open source?

Has Cowon made the firmware code available to the public? If not (probably not) is it possible they ever will? If they don't, could someone with flexible morals find a creative way of obtaining it? That last question need not be answered. But imagine what could be done with the S9 if it were available. So much could be improved a lot faster. Imagine having not waited so long for gapless playback.
