Speaking of the clothesline effect, try putting photos/videos in folders, then browse through folders with the clothesline mode. There is a pretty nice depth effect. It is more interesting than just sliding the clothesline.

How long does the Egg take to boot up to a point where you can tap an app?
Is there a sleep mode that comes up quickly too?

several seconds, but i dont think its fair to judge at this point. There is a sleep with a "slide to unlock" but half the time it freezes or takes for ever to turn on.

Hopefully they VASTLY improve the software.

Right now, the camera quality and the UI are both pretty sh*tty.

Especially since the Zii looks like it has so much potential, I really want to see this thing succeed

It takes about 51 seconds to bootup. Thats a 5 second improvement over the last firmware.

The sleep mode is not that bad, actually. There is no problem with doing it while at the home screen. And even in the apps, it is rarely problematic...

Thanks for the data. 51 seconds is three times longer than my netbook takes to boot up to a useable point. Is there a slow hard drive in the Egg?

There is no hard drive in the Zii or most of PMPs nowadays. There is only this really fast thing called flash memory. But this is not the cause of the Egg's slowness. It would rather be the poorly optimized firmware...

But i have a hard time figuring out why its so long to transfer fileds on the device. It literally takes ages to transfer media, almost as slow as a usb 1.1 connection. I hope they fix that soon
