Hi,
I am looking at a PMP and the iriver looks nice. I want something I can just drag and drop my video files without converting. All me files are xvid avi's 720x416 res with 2.5-3mbs bitrate. Would these play on the P7. If they would, what about audio sync issues? Also - what is the screen like for glare? I will be using the PMP on trains and buses Thanks for the input!! |

I finally replaced my bricked with a new one, and have to say that at $120 for a 16gb version from newegg it's hard to beat for features. Mine plays AVIs fine, but I don't have any at 720 x 416 to test. The spec sheet mentions 720 x 408, but doesn't state that larger resolutions aren't supported. The screen is polished smooth, and reflects glare like any other player will, but should be bright enough to see on the train or bus. You just may need to shield it a little in glare-inducing conditions. I enjoy the P7 for movies over my other players with smaller screen. I've got MP4, WMV, and AVI movies on mine and they all play. Many more formats are supported as well. Specs.

Thanks for the fast reply!! Can you comment on audio sync - I have read some things that suggest it is quite bad, some who don't have it at all and some who say audio sync issues are fixed by jumping back a few seconds into the video. How is it for you?
Also what is the max bitrate you have had play back smoothly? |

these players really should not use the higher bitrates in both audio and video asd this will cause problems with sync, you bitrates are too high for this player to work properly im afraid as this player uses the last generation of processors from Rockchip (a big chinese chip maker), it uses the 27 series, now replaced with the 28 series which can handles much higher rates
so basically for this player you may need to convert the videos bitrates down and stick to mp3 for the audio and alos keep that down and damn - for 120$ for 16GB - damn good price, if they swapped the chip out for the 28 series then this would be one hell of a player |

Thanks for the info Maderin! Guess this is not the player for me sadly :-( I know this is not the forum for it, but do you have any comment on the Cowon O2 in terms of its video play back ability?

Take a look at the Cowon S9, as it might be more to your liking.
