Hi there,
I unfortunately dropped my Vision W yesterday and the HDD gave up the ghost. It's out of warranty (kind of good, kind of bad), and I've done a bit of research and I've seen quite a bit of info on how to disassemble these and replace the HDD. I've managed to get it apart and remove the HDD, and much to my surprise, as I had a 60GB one, it contained a 5mm drive, not quite the 8mm I was expecting from my reading. After more reading I've discovered that there is a newer slim version (I guess this is more information than you need, seeing you probably all know this already, but hey!) which I apparently have. My question is, can I fit an 8mm drive into a slim, or is that a physical impossibility? According to the comments on http://onemansblog.com/2007/07/20/tu...-w-hard-drive/ I should be able to get an 8mm drive to fit (says the author) but another commenter is saying the cover has to bow for it to work. Which is correct? Also, if I can fit an 8mm drive, is there any reason a Vision W won't take a 160GB drive, which are prevalent on places such as eBay? Thanks in advance, --turkeybrain |
