Sweet.

Well she'll surely have no problems getting a job now, what with all the attention this is giving her career and all, "Theres no such thing as bad publicity..." Yeah.

Gotta say though I dont get why he tells everyone he's gay, I mean not that he should feel the need to keep it a secret, but I must have missed her reference to his sexuality somewhere, or maybe the article just left that out. I mean gay or not, you can still be "pervvy" to anyone.

Well regarless of things, she is kind of an idiot for having her boss as a friend on facebook and then badmouthing about him. Not too bright. Especially considering she was still on 6 months probation.

That's why I don't add my bosses on Facebook.
Or, as Mom always told me, if you have nothing nice to say...

It's quite a common question at job interviews these days: 'Are you online, which sites?'

Don't think I'd want to add my boss as a friend, though.

I don't think bosses should be allowed to fire people based on their internet behaviors. It's obviously just a way to vent anger and frustration, and as long as it doesn't affect work ethic it should be fine.

However, this girl totally deserve what was coming, if you believe what the boss wrote is true.

Uh, well she's lucky she just got fired. He also could've sued her b/c of defamation. Yes, that is possible.

I actually got an article on this type of behaviour from my union not 2 weeks back, and I agree with Anger, she should be lucky she ain't being sued. Apart from that, who would insult someone on facebook??

That type of thing happened at school a few months back... a girl accused the whole year of making her unpopular, mean and grumpy, saying that we treat her like shit, and we are the cause of her demise. This was found out very quickly as we were all her friends and she had to walk down the street with an umbrella to keep the spit of her head for the next month.

What is my point? Don't blab on facebook. She deserved it.

Plus, dont accept requests from people you don't like. Simple.

There have been lots of cases in the UK of employees bitching about their bosses or the customers who come into their stores.

People forget what they're typing and seem to feel they are invisible online.

Some of my friends had a landlord that checked facebook pages before he rented out his house to tenants. I think it's a good idea. If your careless enough (or stupid enough...that's debatable) to leave yourself open to be trainwrecked like this girl was, or if like dreamnine said, feel that you are somehow invisible online, you really only have yourself to blame.

From a marketing perspective I find social media sites fascinating. From a personal standpoint, I'm very careful about regulating my "cyber identity" these days it can really make or break you. But really, I don't use them much, I'm not one to feel comfortable letting people know what I'm doing all the time. I more or less just have one so I know what my social calendar looks like on weekends.

Exactly. Which is why people use the internet as a way to vent their anger and frustration.

It's not a good thing to do, but at least it's better than physically venting your anger...
