Default s9 32gb + windows 7?

Well after reading the thread here about the cowon getting errors after transfers in linux i get a bit scared now since windows 7 is a new os. So has anyone confirmed that it works with windows 7 and when you transfer files and update firmwire?

If it works w/my Vista Ultimate machine, it'll work fine w/a Win7 machine. There are ONLY problems w/Linux, and MAC OS to a lesser extent.

My Cowon S9 16GB works perfectly in MSC mode with Windows 7 64-bit. I've updated the firmware twice on it, I've been able to transfer files over to it with foobar, and update playlists on it with mp3tag.

I use it on my 64 bit install of Windows 7. Transfer rates are slow as balls (not sure who's fault that is) and it takes way to long to delete directories and files, but otherwise it works well.

If your using WMP to do the transfers, then I understand.

It works just fine with 32-bit Win7, too. I would agree that file transfers and deletes are way too slow. And no, I am not using MP, just drag and drop transfers.

Speeds are fine for me on my 64bit win 7 OS. Maybe specs are not up to scratch?

Running an Intel X3330 2.5GHz Quad Core, an Asus P5E-VM-DO motherboard with 4GB RAM, and a 300GB Velociraptor.

Regardless of what computer or OS I use though, when you get close to filling it up (70%+) transfer speeds drop to ~1.5-3 MB per second. When it's empty I might see ~7MB per second.

That's quite weird. I've got 2GB left out of my 16GB S9 and I can still transfer files fine. Fragmentation problems of mechanical hdds do not apply to flash memory. Only issue with flash is when a page is marked empty by the FAT but in actuality has still got data in there, a performance hit occurs because it has to erase before writing new content. Sounds like your player gets read and written quite alot?

W7 64bit
6GB DDR3
150GB velociraptor
Asus P6T X58
i7 920

As it seems, quite a few of us have well spec'ed machines so it we can cross that off the chart.
