I am really enjoying my black Fuze, to the point where it has basically replaced my expensive Cowon, and to me it sounds as good as an iMod with expensive amp (I recently did a blind test, couldn't tell the difference). I recently picked up the Griffin Power Dock for a few dollars on ebay, and I like that a lot too.
I'm wondering though if I should get some kind of skin for the Fuze, as it appears to be easily scratchable. I use the dock a lot, so it needs to be able to still fit in there without removing the skin. Does such a thing exist? |

I was actually considering trying one of the crystal cases available for under $8 or so (ebay or amazon). I read at least 1 review that claimed they used it with the Altec Lansing dock, which means I might be able to use it with my Power Dock.
I'm a bit leary of the skins because of the install process. I always mess up on projects like that, I guess I don't have the patience. |

One thing to consider is that the griffin dock is compatible the e200 series as well as the Fuze (and other Sansa products, I believe). What I remember from my e280 is that it was a bit thicker from the data port to the back than the Fuze, as the Fuze is a bit skinnier overall.
I purchased a $5 silicon skin for my Fuze and I like it. It makes the player only a little bit thicker (1/16 in. thicker in front, sides, and bottom; and 1/8 in. thicker in back). That being said, a Fuze with silicon skin should fit a dock. The skin does not affect connecting with the proprietary cable. I recommend the silicon skin, but I must note that: -Dust tends to collect on the skin due to its composition--silicon rubber--it has a natural static charge, but the skin is easy to remove and clean. -Avoid sand. That seems obvious, but if you get sand under the skin, you will end up with wear marks from sand rubbing under the skin on the player when the skin moves a little (it's flexible). same is true for dirt... -On/Off switch is a little harder to access, but the skin moves a little to make it easier. Also, my on/off switch's little nub is almost gone as a result from pressing harder on it with my finger nail to get past the skin. +You can drop your player without incurring damages! Happy hunting! |

I have 2 Fuze's - one in a crystal case and the other in a silicon skin.
I also have a Griffin Power Dock and I can confirm that both sit very comfortably in the dock in thier cases. To provide the right amount of back support, I use the supplied C200 packing piece. If you go for a BSE/invisibleShield, I would suspect that the C200 packing piece may not quite cut the mustard as they both only add microns to the overall thickness. Cheers |
