Default No Jet Audio or Other Audio Effects with S9 Tuner?

It appears that, while the Jet Effect and other Audio tweakers built into the S9 work great with playing music files, none of the audio effects seem to have any effect when playing the FM radio tuner.

I find that the radio sounds fine as it is, but I'm wondering what the reason is that the on-board audio effects software isn't functional when playing the radio.

Any thoughts on that?... like why?

A large amount of players don't allow the EQ to be utilized w/the FM tuner. The Sony daps I've owned, also my Samsung Q2, and my S9 & the D2 as well. Even the Zune 30 didn't use the eq for the tuner.

It's probably due to the way that EQ settings are applied to stored audio. I imagine that the player needs to be able to 'read around' the current play position to calculate and output audio with EQ applied to it, while FM radio is streamed in real time.

I suppose the radio could be buffered, but the cost of developing and writing that facility into the firmware probably outweighed the demand for applying EQ to the radio.

No, it's just a waste of time w/FM radio.

That at least sounds like a logical reason. And if so, Darkside points out that obvious reason why it's not implemented.
While it would be (logically) nice to be able to tweak FM radio sound, I'd imagine that no one would want to pay extra for what it would take to implement it since recorded music is probably 99+% of what we all use our players for.

On the other hand, since a radio is being incorporated anyway, I always thought it would have been nice to have AM as well as FM for it's news and talk shows.
I remember when I was a kid, I had one of those little crystal "Rocket Radio"s that cost probably $3 at the time. I came with only a single ear bud, and you tuned it by sliding the nose cone up or down.
But I digress....

Personally, I'd love to have an AM tuner as well as FM, but the current tech is not moving towards that. That is UNLESS you count the AM stations migrating to HD radio.
