Default Zen Sleek Frozen...help please

I've had my Zen Sleek for about 4 years and it's my pride and joy and contains a huge amount of music which I've built up over the years.

Last weekend, it suddenly froze mid-song. None of the buttons would function so I let it's battery die down.
I then pressed the reset button at the base and it went into Re-building Library mode. Half way through re-building the library it stops and freezes again.
I then tried pushing the reset button in with a paper clip while holding the Play button and got to Recovery mode. The options here included Clean Disk which I did then powered unit off. Powered it back on and again it goes into Rebuilding Library mode, stops have way through building again and freezes. When I connect it via cradle to my laptop, the laptop doesn't recognise it.
I can't get out of Re-building Library and can't use the unit.
Can anyone please advise? I'm lost without my music

You may have to format the drive.(this will ERASE all the files) It's very possible that the hardrive is failing. You should fully charge the battery when you do the recovery mode functions or have it connected to a wall charger so as not to lose power to it.

If you can't get it to complete a cleanup>reboot & finish rebuilding I'm afraid the only other option to maybe get it working (if you can) is to Format>Cleanup>Reboot. It pays to backup your files to a separate hardrive for times like this.
